BRYAN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Some Bryan ISD teachers will receive a welcomed financial boost from a
local bank to aid their efforts in the classroom. The 2007 Citi Success
Fund Teacher Grant program will award $25,000 in grant money to 30 Bryan
ISD teachers at a reception on Monday, Aug. 20 at The Veranda in Bryan. 

The grant recipients were chosen by a panel of district, Education
Foundation and business leaders. Teachers submitted grant proposals for
classroom projects designed to enhance learning. The grants range from
several hundred dollars to several thousand. 

"The generosity of Citibank Texas has allowed us to add more grant
recipients to our Grants to Teachers program. This money gives our
teachers an extra incentive to seek out ways they can make learning come
alive for our students," said Sandra Davis, BISD Education Foundation
Executive Director. 

Since 1999, the Education Foundation has provided scholarships for BISD
high school graduates attending higher education, scholarships for
economically disadvantaged students for dual credit enrollment, and
provided teacher grants for innovative K - 12 classroom projects.
