Union Pacific rail construction to affect crossings
Today, Union Pacific Railroad <http://www.up.com/index.shtml> informed
the City of Bryan that it would be replacing several miles of track
between Groesbeck Street and Millican in southern Brazos County.
The work will, at times, cause complete closures at the railroad
crossings located at these Bryan streets: Groesbeck, Pease, Dodge and
Carson. During construction, UPRR advises that trains could be traveling
at reduced speeds and that railroad crossings may be rough. Each
finished crossing, though, will have a smooth, asphalt finish.
Construction, according to UPRR, began today at Groesbeck Street and
will move southward until May 8. After a one-week break, track
installation will resume May 16-23.
