Criminal Mischief Suspect Apprehended

 

 

Fire Department personnel responded Feb. 2 to the report of a smell of
diesel fuel coming from a residence at 1401 Saunders. Fire
investigations determined that the pouring of diesel fuel throughout the
residence was intentional. 

 

Furthermore, there was a belief that the intent was for a large fire in
the fireplace to ignite the vapors. The fuel failed to ignite but caused
damage to the residence in excess of $40,000 to the owner. The suspect
was identified as Edward Hodges, who had been leasing the home and was
in the process of being evicted by the owner. 

 

On March 11, a warrant was obtained for Mr. Hodges. Through the
coordinated efforts of Bryan Fire Department and various local and state
agencies, Hodges was successfully apprehended in Bryan on March 12.

 

The Bryan Fire Department would like to thank all the assisting agencies
and their personnel for their support in the apprehension of Hodges,
especially the State Fire Marshals Office, Brazos County Sheriff's
Office and the Bryan Police Department.
