Bryan Police Sergeant appointed to statewide
instructor position
The Texas Tactical Police Officer Association (TTPOA) has appointed
Bryan Police Sgt. Buck Rogers as an adjunct instructor. Sgt. Rogers
will travel across the State of Texas to select instructors to teach
other SWAT officers. Rogers will create training curriculum and
coordinate these classes to agencies throughout the State. The State of
Texas has 8 districts and each district has a director for coordinating
classes. Sgt. Rogers will coordinate the 8 directors and assist in
getting classes to each district. Sgt. Rogers will do this job with
TTPOA in addition to his duties as the Sergeant over the Traffic Safety
Unit at the Bryan Police Department.
Sgt. Rogers has been a member of the TTPOA for 16 years. Over the past
few years, Sgt. Rogers has volunteered his time in helping out the
Association in whatever needs arose. The President of TTPOA
acknowledged Sgt. Buck Rogers' teaching skills and passion for training
officers in his decision to appoint Rogers as the adjunct instructor.
TTPOA is a non profit organization and the focus of TTPOA is to train
officers at a lower cost. The adjunct position is to facilitate the
training across the State. Rogers stated, "TTPOA has helped our agency
and officers with officer safety classes and other types of training and
I want to give back to the association what it has given to us".
Sgt. Rogers is a supervisor on the Tactical Response Team who has
developed and taught many classes for the TRT. Sgt. Rogers and other
Bryan Police officers developed an Officer Survival Class. Sgt. Rogers
is going to be instrumental in getting that class offered to officers
around the State of Texas. Deputy Chief Peter Scheets added, "Sgt.
Rogers is a valuable asset to the Bryan Police Department and his
selection as an adjunct instructor with TTPOA is a testament to his
expertise and professionalism. His participation reflects favorably on
himself as well as the Bryan Police Department".
